3 Day Meal Plan That is Tasty and Filling

I’m pretty simple when it comes to my meal plan’s for minimalist camping. I have found recipes that are easy to whip up, without a lot of prep and still taste pretty good when you are out on the trail. Nick and I are always satisfied!

Here is my 3 day meal plan:

Day 1

  • Breakfast: at home
  • Lunch: salami sandwich
  • Snack: jerky, babybell cheese, pepperoni sticks, grapefruit, granola bar, spits
  • Dinner: dehydrated ground beef with Uncle Ben’s rice and protein bar

Day 2

  • Breakfast: tasty oatmeal breakfast
  • Lunch: salami sandwich
  • Snack: jerky, babybell cheese, pepperoni sticks, orange, granola bar, spits
  • Dinner: dehydrated ground beef with Uncle Ben’s rice and protein bar

Day 3

  • Breakfast: tasty oatmeal breakfast
  • Lunch: salami sandwich
  • Snack: jerky, babybell cheese, pepperoni sticks, grapefruit, granola bar, spits
  • Dinner: dehydrated ground beef with Uncle Ben’s rice and protein bar

My main goal for making our food is to have enough food for the trip. Duh. But, also to not bring any food home with us. I love when your pack feels lighter when hiking home!

For breakfast while backpacking, I always bring my tasty oatmeal breakfast. It’s simple, filling, and most importantly, tasty! Nick is a big guy, he eats a lot. So I like that this meal is lightweight and fills him up!

Anytime I bring fruits I try to choose ones with skin. Such as, grapefruit or oranges. These are actually the only fruit I bring. The skin protects the fruit when you are packing the food. We shove all our food into a dry bag and then into our backpacks.

I am obsessed with making the same dinner when backpacking. Similar to the breakfast, it is lightweight, filling and tasty. It’s pretty simple and you can find the recipe here.

  1. Your tasty oatmeal sure sounds tasty! I was just put on a low histamine diet and having a hard time trying to find things to eat. Take the almonds out of the tasty oatmeal and I can eat it!! May have to try 🙂

    1. Oh I’m glad to help! I find it gives me the energy to hike and keeps me quite full while hiking, so it should keep you nice and full until lunch! Let me know what you think of it!!
